7 Brew describes the Nightshade as a "bold, mysterious fruit flavor with a smooth floral edge and after-dark energy." It sits on the regular energy menu, and the October 2026 Halloween menu lists it too, calling it "frighteningly refreshing."
Lavender, Pomegranate and Blue Raspberry
The base is 7 Energy, the energy drink 7 Brew makes under its own name. The lavender gives it the "floral edge"; the pomegranate and blue raspberry make it fruity.
You choose Original or Sugar-Free 7 Energy, and order it iced or as a frozen chiller. 7 Brew says you can add cream, whipped cream or cold foam, or change the sweetness level.
How Strong Is a Nightshade?
7 Brew's nutrition guide dated October 1, 2026 lists a medium iced Nightshade with Original 7 Energy at 105 mg of caffeine and 230 calories with 57 grams of sugar. A large goes up to 133 mg, and there is no kids size for 7 Energy drinks.
The frozen chiller is the lighter option: a medium is 180 calories with 55 mg of caffeine, about half the caffeine of iced. The FDA says 400 mg of caffeine a day is not generally linked to negative effects for most adults, and that medical experts advise against energy drinks for children and teens. Where to Get a Sugar-Free Nightshade
At the stand, a handcrafted 7 Energy drink like the Nightshade cost $6.83 to $7.13 before tax at the six stands we checked on October 5 and 6, 2026, and most charged $6.83 (7 Brew prices). 7 Brew's nutrition guide has no Sugar-Free Nightshade. You can still order it with Sugar-Free 7 Energy, which 7 Brew says has 0 grams of sugar, and ask for less sweet; the flavors will add some sugar, and 7 Brew does not publish numbers for that combination.
At Walmart, there is a sugar-free version. Since August 2026, 7 Brew has sold a Sugar-Free Nightshade 7 Energy in 12 oz cans at about 1,100 Walmart stores and roughly 450 Walmart fuel stations, for $2.48 with 114 mg of caffeine. 7 Brew says the flavored cans are sold only through Walmart. Tasting Table's review of the cans found the Sugar-Free Nightshade tasted the most like a slushie of the energy drinks, with flavors that were hard to pin down.
Nightshade and the Monster Mash
Before the Nightshade was on the menu, fans ordered the same three flavors as a secret menu drink called the Monster Mash: 7 Energy with lavender, pomegranate and blue raspberry. The Nightshade is the official version, so you can now order it by name.
Two of the flavors also show up in the Boo Raspberry Blue Pom Smoothie on the October 2026 menu: blue raspberry and pomegranate, with strawberry in place of lavender, in the Blue Pom smoothie with whipped cream. All four have 105 mg of caffeine in a medium iced. If you like the lavender in the Nightshade, 7 Brew's Cloud 9 matcha and Earl Grey tea use lavender with vanilla.
FAQ
Is the Nightshade the same as the Monster Mash?
Yes, in flavors. The Monster Mash was a fan-made secret menu drink with lavender, pomegranate and blue raspberry in 7 Energy. The Nightshade is 7 Brew's official drink with the same three flavors.
Is the Nightshade a Halloween drink?
It is on 7 Brew's October 2026 Halloween menu, but it is also on the regular energy menu, so it is not limited to October.
